ABILENE, Texas – The Concordia Women's Tennis team, searching for their second straight win, fell short against McMurry, losing 8-1 on Friday afternoon.
In the doubles matches, the teams of
Leyla Martinez,
Justus Aarhus and
Serena Segel,
Lisette Mata both stayed within a game in their respective, but could not overcome the War Hawks as both lost 8-6.
Camille Kempf and Hayley fell behind early and were unable to rally, losing the match 8-1.
In the singles matches, Kempf notched her first win of the season, splitting the first two sets, and winning the third set tiebreaker 10-7. Mata would go to a first set tiebreaker, but lost it 7-3, and would drop the second set 6-3. Anderson would grab the early lead, winning the first set 6-3, but dropped a close second set 7-5, and in the third set tiebreaker was unable to stage a rally losing 10-7. Segel would go down in straight sets after losing a first set tiebreaker 7-3. Martinez and Aarhus would also fall in straight sets losing 7-5, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-4 respectively.
Next up, the Tornados will look to bounce back against Hardin-Simmon, on Saturday at 9 a.m.
