Tornados suffer setback against Hardin-Simmons

ABILENE, Texas – The Concordia Women's Tennis team faced Hardin-Simmons in their second match in as many day, falling 9-0 on Saturday morning.
 
In the doubles matches, the Tornados were unable to keep up with the Cowgirls. Justus Aarhus and Camille Kempf lost their set 8-1. The doubles teams of Leyla Martinez, Rean Vanderbilt and Hayley Anderson, Lisette Mata both lost their set 8-2, as McMurry went up 3-0.
 
In the singles matches, CTX was unable to force a third set. Aarhus and Mata both kept it close in their matches, but were unable to mount a rally, losing in straight sets 7-5, 6-4. Anderson was able to pick up a game in the first set, but was not able to get anything in the second set, losing 6-1, 6-0. Kempf and Serena Segel both suffered setbacks losing in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 and 6-4, 6-0 respectfully. Mata was unable to pick up a game in either set, losing 6-0, 6-0.
 
The Tornados will return to the courts on Feb. 24, when they will travel to Tyler, Texas to take on UT Tyler at 1 p.m.
