SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Concordia Women's tennis went on the road to face a tough Trinity University team on Sunday morning.
The Tornados challenged the Tigers in both the singles and doubles matches, but ultimately fell short, losing the dual match 9-0.
In the doubles matches, the duo of
Camille Kempf and
Hayley Anderson kept it close throughout the match against Trinity's Ashley Debauge and Meredith Jackson, but fell short losing 8-5.
Serena Segel and
Juliette Garza battled but were unable to overcome TU, losing the set 8-3.
Leyla Martinez and
Rean Vanderbilt struggled in their set, falling 8-1.
In the singles matches, Garza faced Jackson in a match that went to a 10-point tiebreaker. Garza and Jackson went back and forth in the first set, and headed to a tiebreaker after tying it up at 6-6. Garza would take the tiebreaker 7-5 to secure the first set. In the second set, Garza went down 4-1, before winning the next two games to cut it to 4-3, but it was not enough as Jackson took the set 6-3.
In the 10-point tiebreaker, Jackson took the early lead up 7-3, but Garza rallied behind a couple of strong serves and winners to make it 7-6. Jackson would win the tiebreaker 10-6 though to win the match. In the other single matches, the Tornados were unable to force a tiebreaker, losing in straight sets.
