Tornados compete well against East Texas Baptist

 
MARSHALL, Texas – The Concordia Women's Tennis team looked for their second straight win, but lost to tenth-ranked East Texas Baptist on Saturday afternoon.

In the singles matches, the Tornados were unable to force a third set. Justus Aarhus would only be broken once in the first set but could not complete the rally, losing 6-4, 6-2. Leyla Martinez fell 6-2 in both sets, while Juliette Garza lost 6-1, 6-2. Camille Kempf was unable to grab an early lead as she lost 6-1, 6-0. Hayley Anderson competed well against the Tigers, but lost in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, while Serena Segel lost 6-2, 6-1.

In the doubles matches, the pairings of Anderson, Kempf and Segel, Garza, both fell in their matches 8-3. Aarhus and Martinez were unable to force a tiebreaker against ETBU's Kate Bramlett and Kaleigh Smith as they lost 8-3.

CTX will stay on the road as they will now travel to Georgetown, Texas to face Southwestern in a match that was originally scheduled as a home match. First serve is at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8.
