LONGVIEW, Texas – The Concordia Women's Tennis won its second match of the season in dominating fashion as they defeated LeTourneau 8-1 in matches on Friday night.
In the doubles matches, the Torados swept as the pairing of
Justus Aarhus and
Leyla Martinez won a tightly contested match 8-6.
Serena Segel and
Juliette Garza won their match 8-3, while
Hayley Anderson and
Camille Kempf didn't allow the Yellow Jackets a game as they won their match 8-0.
In the singles match, CTX won five of the six, including four in straight sets. Segel defeated Mikayla Thomas 6-0, 6-1, while Anderson won her first set 6-1 and did not allow a game in the second set, winning 6-0. Kempf only lost one game in each of her sets as she went on to win 6-1, 6-1, while Garza won in straight sets over Terin Murray 6-2, 6-1.
The final two matches of the day went to a third set. Aarhus lost the first set in a tiebreaker, but bounced back to take the second set 6-4. In the deciding pro set tiebreaker, Aarhus' rally came up short as she lost 10-6. Martinez fell behind in her singles match, dropping the first set in a tiebreaker. But she would battle back to take the next two sets 6-3, 6-3 for the win.
CTX will now travel to Marshall, Texas to take on East Texas Baptist at 10 a.m.
