AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Women's Tennis team swept the singles matches on their way to an 8-1 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor on Friday to clinch a spot in the American Southwest Conference tournament.
In the double matches, the Tornados would take two of three, falling at line one.
Leyla Martinez and
Justus Aarhus battled against the Cru at line one, but ultimately fell 9-7.
Lisette Mata, Haley Anderson and
Serena Segel,
Camille Kempf would both take 8-1 victories at line two and three respectively.
In the singles matches, CTX would sweep lines one through six for a dominating 8-1 victory. At line one, Martinez would drop the first set, before winning a tiebreaker in the second and cruising to a 6-2 win in the decisive set. Aarhus only allowed one game in her two sets, while Mata pitched shutouts in each of her sets. Kempf only allowed three total games in her two-set victory, while Anderson and Segel both won their matches 6-2, 6-2.
Up next, CTX will await their seeding in the ASC West Division as the regular season comes to a close. The conference tournament will begin on April 27 at the site of the West Division one seed.
