Tornados overwhelm Howard Payne for second straight win

BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Concordia Women's Tennis team won their second straight conference match with an 8-1 decisive victory over Howard Payne on Friday.

The Tornados battled in the doubles matches, coming away with two wins. At line one, the duo of Leyla Martinez and Justus Aarhus went back and forth with the Yellow Jackets, finally going up a break to win 9-7. Hayley Anderson and Lisette Mata earned the second win of the day at line two with an 8-5 victory.

In the singles matches, CTX would sweep all six matches. At line one, Martinez split the first two sets with each going to a tiebreaker, before coming away with the win in a 13-11 decision in the pro set tiebreaker. Aarhus, Mata and Juliette Garza all won in straight sets at lines two through four respectively. Camille Kempf, at line five, earned a tough first set win before not allowing a game in the second set for the victory. Anderson closed out the Tornados' singles with a three set win at line six.

CTX has a quick turnaround with their final regular season road match of the season, facing UT Dallas on Saturday at 10 a.m.
