AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's tennis team put forth a dominant effort on Saturday, defeating Ozarks 9-0 at UT Whitaker Fields.
The Tornados are now 3-1 to start the season, which is the best mark through four games since tennis returned to CTX in 2015-16.
In the doubles matches, the combinations of
Justus Aarhus and
Camille Kempf,
Hayley Anderson and
Alexis Popovich, and
Genna Ellinwood and
Lauren Fox all took home decisive victories.
Elllinwood and Fox won their match in straight sets 8-0 while Anderson and Popovich grabbed an 8-2 win and Aarhus and Kempf won 8-5.
The Tornados ensued to sweep through the singles matches as well. Playing in line one,
Leyla Martinez won her match 6-1, 6-0.
In the other singles matches Anderson, a freshman from San Antonio, Popovich, a junior out of Austin, Texas, and Ellinwood, a sophomore from Pflugerville, all took home straight set wins 6-0, 6-0.
Alejandra Rueda also grabbed a singles victory for CTX, defeating Kirsten Endicot 6-1, 6-0. In the final singles match, Fox grabbed a 6-0, 6-4 win to seal the sweep for the Tornados.
Next up, the Tornados travel to Georgetown, Texas, for a non-conference matchup against Southwestern beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Marvin D. Anderson Sr. Tennis Courts.
