Tornados fall 8-1 to Wisconsin-Eau Claire

AUSTIN, Texas – Alexis Popovich picked up a singles win, but the Concordia Texas women's tennis team could not muster up another win as they dropped an 8-1 decision to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Wednesday at Austin Tennis Center.

Popovich, a junior out of Austin, Texas, won singles on line five 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) as the Tornados fell to 6-4 on the season.

In the doubles matches, CTX went 0-3 losing the three matches by a score of 8-3, 8-2 and 8-2.

Both Justus Aarhus and Hayley Anderson were able to force a tiebreaker in the first set of their singles matches, but ended up falling 7-5, 6-0 and 7-6, 6-1 on lines one and three, respectively.

The loss was the first at home for the Tornados this season as they had previously knocked off Sul Ross State, Ozarks and Letourneau in Austin, Texas earlier this season.

CTX will continue non-conference play on Saturday against Austin College at 5:00 at Riverplace Country Club in Austin.
