Popovich shines against Hardin-Simmons

ABILENE, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's tennis team would fall behind 2-1 after double and try to rally but were unable to complete the comeback, dropping a 7-2 decision to Hardin-Simmons on Friday.

Alexis Popovich and Camille Kempf would earn the lone win for the Tornados in doubles, winning at line 8-6 over the Cowgirls' Kelsey Doege and Elizabeth Lopez.

In the singles matches, Popovich would pick up her second win of the day, defeating HSU's Doege in straight set 6-2, 6-3.

Hayley Anderson, meanwhile, would drop the first set and battle back to take the second set 6-2 and force a decisive third set, but came up short, losing it 6-4.

Concordia Texas was unable to grab a win in the rest of the singles match, losing the team match 7-2.

The Tornados will have a quick turnaround when they take on McMurry at 10 a.m. in Abilene, Texas at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center
