ALPINE, Texas – After falling behind 2-1 in the doubles sets, the Concordia Texas women's tennis team was able to mount a comeback and knock off Sul Ross State 6-3 to open American Southwest Conference play Saturday at SRSU Tennis Courts.

Alexis Popovich,
Camille Kempf and
Lauren Fox all earned series wins to help CTX move to 7-5, 1-0 ASC.
Kempf, a sophomore from San Antonio, Texas, and Popovich, a junior out of Austin, Texas, also teamed up to win their doubles match on line three. Both Kempf and Popovich also won their singles matches in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-0, respectively.
Anderson was absolutely dominant while playing on line three. The junior from San Antonio, Texas, did not lose a game en route to winning 6-0, 6-0.
Playing on line one, Aarhus, a sophomore out of Georgetown, Texas, also won in straight sets 8-7, 6-2 to clinch the win for the Tornados.
Next up, CTX will welcome Howard Payne to Austin, Texas, for an ASC match at 1:00 p.m. at Riverplace Country Club.
