SAN ANTONIO, Texas –
Genna Ellinwood, who would win the flight C singles consolation title, would pair up with
Camille Kempf to win the flight C doubles consolation title as the Concordia Texas women's tennis team wrapped up the final day of the ITA Southwest Regional on Saturday.
After an early morning rain delay, the regional continued, beginning with the final singles matches to be played.
Ellinwood, playing in the singles consolation bracket of flight C, would not drop a set in any of her three matches on her way to winning the consolation bracket championship over Schreiner's Kate Woods.
In the rest of the singles matches, Elaine Evans, playing in flight C, would falter in the quarterfinals, while
Claire Austin, in flight B, would pick up a win to reach the quarterfinals before falling in straight sets.
Alexis Popovich, also competing in flight B, came up short in the round of 16 matches.
On the doubles side, Ellinwood and Kempf continued in the consolation bracket of flight C, while Popovich and Evans played in the consolation side of flight B.
Ellinwood and Kempf would cruise to the finals with 8-3, 8-1 wins in the quarters and semis, respectively. In the final, they would edge out LeTourneau's duo of Samantha Trevino and Lauren Rockwell to clinch the second title of the day for CTX.
Popovich and Evans, meanwhile, would win their first two matches of the day to reach the finals of the flight B consolation bracket. In the finals, they would come up short though, falling 4-8 to Southwestern's Isabel Candelario and Stephanie Bartusov to finish as the runner-up.
Up next, the Tornados will play their final tournament of the fall season when they travel to Seguin, Texas to compete in the Doc Skogman tournament on Oct. 5-7.
