Tornados come from behind to pick up 6-3 victory over Texas Wesleyan

BOX SCORE ARLINGTON, Texas – After falling behind 2-1 through three doubles matches, the Concordia Texas women's tennis team won five of the six singles matchups to grab a 6-3 win over Texas Wesleyan on Thursday at Arlington Tennis Center.
 
Claire Austin was spectacular on the court all day, teaming up with Leyla Martinez for a doubles win before winning in straight sets on line three singles to help CTX move to 2-3 on the season.
 
All three doubles matchups were tightly contested, with Martinez and Austin grabbing an 8-4 victory on line one and the Rams picking up 8-6 wins on line to and three.
 
Playing on line three, Austin, a freshman from Dallas, won her contest 6-1, 6-1 for her second straight set win of the spring season. 
 
Camille Kempf, Elania Evans and Genna Ellinwood all grabbed straight set victories as well, playing on lines four, five and six, respectively. Kempf won her match 6-3, 6-3, Evans picked up a 6-1, 6-4 win and Ellinwood dominated in a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
 
Playing on line one, Alexis Popovich also grabbed a singles win after her opponent was forced to retire in the middle of set one.
 
The Tornados will return to action on Friday when they take on Centenary (La.) and LeTourneau in back-to-back matches beginning at 11 a.m. in Marshall, Texas.
