Spivey wraps up collegiate career at NCAA Championships

GENEVA, Ohio – Gabriel Spivey competed in the long jump and 400m events at the NCAA Division III Men's Track and Field Championships on Thursday and Friday at the SPIRE Institute.

On Thursday, Spivey was one of the 20 competitors in the long jump event. After scratching on his first jump, Spivey made it count on his second attempt, reaching a distance of 6.97m. On his final attempt, Spivey scratched and placed 16th overall.

On Friday, in the 400m preliminaries, the San Antonio native ran a time of 49.27 in the third heat but did not qualify for the finals and placed 17th overall in the event.

The championships conclude the career of Spivey, who finishes as the most decorated male athlete in the program's history.

He won three individual American Southwest Conference titles, holds two school records, qualified for three straight NCAA Championships and was a two-time U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Region honoree.
