ABILENE, Texas –
Natalia Goodman reached the semifinals of the flight B singles bracket before seeing her run end as the Concordia Texas women's tennis team competed in the second day of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional on Saturday.
Goodman, who won both of her matches on Friday to reach the quarterfinals of the bracket, opened the day with a straight set, 6-4, 6-4 win over East Texas Baptist's Maddi Davis for a spot in the semifinals.
In her semifinal match, Goodman would fall to Southwestern's Sara Le 6-3, 6-1, ending her singles run.
Teammate
Rachel Sweitzer also competed in the quarterfinals of flight B, but came up short against Southwestern's Chandler Verba, falling in straight sets.
Alejandra Rueda, meanwhile, competed in the quarterfinals of the flight B consolation singles bracket after a win on Friday. Facing Hardin-Simmons Brianne Dumas, Rueda's semifinal bid would end, falling 6-1, 6-4.
Veronica Gutierrez was the last singles competitor for the Tornados, playing in flight D, where her run ended in the semifinals against LeTourneau's Amber VanDuyn.
Meanwhile, in flight B doubles,
Claire Austin and
Kaitlin Stevens continued their championship run. They opened the day with an 8-3 quarterfinal win over Hardin-Simmons to move on to the semifinals. In the semifinals, Austin and Stevens were unable to complete a comeback, falling 8-5 to East Texas Baptist.
Concordia Texas' fall season has concluded and now will look forward to the spring season, where they look to reach their fourth consecutive conference tournament.
