BOX SCORE SHERMAN, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's tennis team continued their three-match road trip on Friday, facing Austin College, falling 9-0 in a non-conference match.
In doubles, the Tornados went toe to toe with the Roos in all three matches, but were unable to grab a lead in the match, coming up short in each match; including an 8-4 loss for
Cassandra Landeros-Cabrera and
Isabella Wiik at line one.
Concordia Texas looked to bounce back in the singles matches, but did not pick up a point.
Wiik, playing at line two singles, drop the first set 6-2 but battled back in the second before losing a break point and falling in straight sets.
Alejandra Rueda fell in straight sets at line five, 6-2, 6-3, while teammate
Rachel Sweitzer nearly forced a decisive third set at line six, but dropped the second set 6-4, concluding the team match with a 9-0 decision.
The Tornados will close out their road trip on Saturday when they face Texas Wesleyan in a neutral-sited match at 10 a.m. in Sherman, Texas.
