BOX SCORE AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's tennis team fell at home in their season opener 8-1 to Texas Wesleyan on Saturday at River Place Country Club.
The Rams swept the Tornados in the opening doubles matches, including a hard-fought contest by the duo of
Rachel Sweitzer and
Isabella Wiik, who fell at line three 8-4.
Concordia Texas looked to mount a comeback in the singles matches but were only able to pick up one point in the remaining six matches.
Kaitlin Stevens was responsible for the lone Tornados point, winning at line six in a decisive third set. She won the first set 6-2 in convincing fashion before dropping the second set 6-2, but came away with the third set 10-8 to secure the victory.
The Tornados will be back in action on February 17, this time on the road, facing off against non-conference foe Southwestern in Georgetown, Texas at 5 p.m.
