BOX SCORE LAKEWAY, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's tennis team won their second straight match as they continued their home stand on Saturday with a 6-3 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor.
In doubles play, the Tornados picked up two points, starting with an 8-5 victory from the duo of
Isabella Wiik and
Natalia Goodman at line one.
Claire Austin and
Kaitlin Stevens followed, teaming up for an 8-5 win at line two.
Wiik picked up her second win of the day in singles play, dropping the first set but recovering and going on to win 4-6,6-1,6-0 over the Lady Crusaders' Chloe Norris at line two.
Claire Austin also celebrated her second victory of the day in singles play, coasting to a 6-3, 6-0 win in straight sets at line two.
Alejandra Rueda was the next Tornado to secure a point for the team, dropping the first set 2-6 but winning the second 7-6 after scoring the tiebreaker, and finally earning the line-five victory with a 10-6 third set win.
Emily Hines picked up the last victory for the Tornados, turning in an impressive 6-2, 6-1 win in straight sets at line six.
Concordia Texas will continue its home stand on Sunday, hosting ASC foe McMurry at Austin Tennis Center at 1 p.m.
