GREENSBORO, N.C. –
Bayli Luke competed in the preliminaries of the 400m dash on Friday at the NCAA DIII Outdoor Track and Field Championships, running a time of 56.75 to finish 10th overall at the Irwin Belk Track.
Luke, who is the first ever athlete from the women's team to run in the NCAA Championships, competed in heat two of the preliminary races of the 400m event.
She crossed the finish line in a time of 56.75, the second-fastest time in the event in her career, placing fourth in the heat.
Among the 19 runners competing over the three heats, Luke finished 10th overall, but missed out on advancing to the 400m finals.
The NCAA Championships concludes Luke's historic season, which included setting the 400m school record and being named a U.S Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association South/Southeast All-Region honoree for her performance in the 400m event, one of five Tornados to earn the recognition this season.
