BOX SCORE SHERMAN, Texas –
Claire Austin came back from a set down at line three singles, to win it 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 and the Concordia Texas women's tennis team earned their first victory of the season, defeating Austin College 7-2 on Sunday.
The Tornados took an early lead in the match, winning two of the three doubles matches.
Kayla Pena and
Natalia Goodman teamed up at line two, walking away with an 8-0 shutout. Austin and
Trinity Klamecki put CTX in front, winning at line three 8-2.
In singles,
Isabella Wiik won her match at line two by retirement, while Goodman did not drop a game, winning it 6-0, 6-0 at line three. Kalmecki, meanwhile, rolled in her match with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep.
Emily Hines closed out the win for the Tornados with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout at line six.
Concordia Texas will now return to Austin, Texas for their home opener, facing Texas Lutheran on Friday at noon at the Austin Tennis Academy.
