Stewart, Toro shatter school records at Wes Kittley Invitational

ABILENE, Texas – Sam Stewart and Erin Toro each set new school records, making history for the Concordia Texas track and field team at the Wes Kittley Invitational on Saturday.
 
Stewart shattered his own school record in the 1,500m run, clocking in at 4:09.54 to beat his previous record of 4:10.22 set at the Carl Knight Invitational on April 5, 2019.
 
Toro, who set the school record in discus at the Trinity Invitational this spring, put her name in the record books again as she threw a record 34.58m hammer throw.
 
On the women's side, the Tornados recorded multiple PR's at the meet.
 
Kallie Krenz, competing in her second meet, clocked in at a personal-best time of 13.49 in the 100m, and Tamia Dailey set a new PR in the event with a time 14.07.
 
In the 200m, Bayli Luke finished ahead of every other Division III competitor and 21st overall, marking a time of 26.26. Luke was the top Division III runner in the 400m as well, finishing 12th overall with a time of 58.52.
 
Rayna Pack recorded a personal-best discus throw, tossing 29.03m in the event, and Jessica Day threw the top javelin mark of the Division III competitors with 32.24m, good for 12th place overall.
 
The men's side saw three top-ten finishes along with multiple personal bests.
 
Stewart, along with his record-setting performance in the 1,500m, marked a top-ten finish in the 800m, placing sixth with a new PR of 1:57.61.
 
Ravon Davis-Conway picked up a top-five finish in the triple jump, jumping 14.23m for fifth place in the event.
 
Rick Platas eclipsed his personal-best 5,000m time, clocking in at 16:03.41 and finishing fifth in the 5,000m section two.
 
Jacob Ismir set a new PR in the 5,000m as well, running a 16:39.87.
 
Kamron Loera was not far behind Stewart in the 1,500m run, recording a new personal-best time 4:09.94 in his first appearance competing in the event.
 
In the 100m, Jacob Land led the Tornados with a time of 11.22, followed by 11.37 from Jackson Henry in his first 100m appearance and a personal-best time of 11.40 from Chance Miller.
 
Tevin Smith was the top CTX runner in the 200m, finishing 13th with a wind-aided time of 21.96, and Jacob Land followed with a wind-aided 22.43.
 
Smith was also the top 400m runner on the squad, recording a time of 49.48 to finish 17th, and Cristian Jiminez was next with a personal-best time of 52.67.

Concordia Texas will hit the track again on Wednesday, competing at the first day of the Texas Relays.
