ABILENE, Texas –
Kamron Loera made history, setting a new school record, and the Concordia Texas track and field team completed the Texas State Invitational on Saturday.
Loera shattered the 5,000m school record, making history with a time of 15:53.79 and a top-15 finish in the event. Loera's record-breaking time takes the place of
Rick Platas, who has held the record of 16:03 at the Wes Kittley Invitational on March 19, 2022..
In addition to Loera, multiple runners penciled in new personal bests on the men's side.
Firstly,
Rick Platas recorded a personal-best 15:58.14 in the 5,000m, finishing close behind Loera at 17th place.
Next,
Sam Stewart recorded a new personal best, marking a time of 1:57.48 in the 800m for 27th place, and also ran to a time of 4:12.22 in the 1,500m, good for 43rd place.
Staying on the men's side,
Tevin Smith recorded a season-best 400m time of 49.14, marking a top-20 finish in 18th place.
Daniel Bizimia rounds out the men's competitors, trotting to a season-best 2:07.73 in the 800m for 39th place.
Bayli Luke and
Bianca Bagwell competed on the women's side, with Luke recording a pair of season-best times at the meet.
Luke clocked in at 26.14 in the 200m, marking a season-best time for 52nd place. She also recorded a new season-best in the 400m, running to a time of 58.31 for 23rd.
Bianca Bagwell competed in the 1,500m, clocking in at 5:48.90 for 29th place.
Concordia Texas will return to the track on April 8, competing at the UIW Invitational in San Antonio at Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium.
