ABILENE, Texas –
Bayli Luke won two events and finished second in another, and
Erin Toro and
Jessica Day set new school records as the Concordia Texas Track and Field Team competed at the War Hawks Classic Friday.
Luke finished first in the 400m with a time of 57.63 as well as the 800m with a new personal best of 2:35.36, and she came in second place in the 200m with a new personal-best mark of 25.63.
Erin Toro continued to improve her school-record mark in the discus, this time throwing a distance of 40.72m for third place, and
Jessica Day, who set the school record at the UIW Invitational last week, marked a 35.45m javelin throw, good for third place in the event.
On the men's side,
Kamron Loera turned in another stellar day in the distance events, placing third in the 1,500m with a time of 4:14.72 and winning the 5,000m event with a time of 16:20.81.
In addition to these Luke, Toro, and Day, the Tornados marked multiple PR's and top-10 finishes on the women's side.
First,
Kallie Krenz finished fifth in the 100m, clocking in at a personal-best time of 13.40, and she also finished third in the long jump with a personal-best distance of 5.17m.
Lauren Rekward also recorded a pair of personal records, first running 13.59 in the 100m for seventh place and following with a 4.45m distance in the long jump to finish 14th. Additionally, she made her debut in the 200m, finishing in ninth place with a time of 29.61.
Jenna Townsley earned the Tornados' third top-10 finish in the 100m, placing eighth with a new PR of 13.83, and she also made her debut in the long jump, finishing 13th thanks to a 4.53m leap.
Tamia Dailey rounded out the Tornados' 100m times with a personal record of her own, clocking in at 14.04 for 11th place.
Elisa Leboeuf earned a top-10 finish in the 200m with a time of 30.30, and she made her debut appearance in the triple jump where she recorded a 9.83m jump.
Jada Calais recorded top-five finishes in both hurdles events, placing fourth in the 100m hurdles with new PR of 18.11 and second in the 400m hurdles with a personal-best time of 1:19.85.
Rayna Pack competed in the discus as well as the shot put, tossing a 29.80m discus for 10th place and a 9.31m shot put for 10th place.
In the javelin,
Avery Smith registered a ninth-place finish with a new personal best of 24.39. Smith also earned third place in her pole vault debut, vaulting 2.43m.
Sophia West marked a new personal best with an 18.29m javelin throw, good for 12th place, and Allese Crutcher placed 10th in the shot put with a 9.31m toss.
Moving to the men's side,
Chance Miller picked up a pair of PR's on the day. Miller finished 14th in the 100m with a time of 11.14, and followed that with a 23.25 200m for 12th place.
Jacob Land also had a good day in the sprint events, highlighted by an eighth-place finish in the 200m after running 22.54. Land also finished 21st in the 100m, clocking in at 11.24.
Jackson Henry was the Tornados' third 100m runner, finishing 23rd with a time of 11.29.
Tevin Smith earned a fourth-place finish in the 400m, running to a time of 49.43, and
Sam Stewart followed with a ninth-place finish, registering a time of 51.55 in his first appearance in the event this season. Stewart picked up another top-ten finish in the 800m, running 1:59.84 for seventh place.
Meanwhile, Daniel Bizimia competed in the 400m and 800m as well. He finished 11th in the 400m, running to a time of 52.00 in his debut appearance in the event, and he finished 12th in the 800m with a time of 2:08.20.
Next, Christian Jimenez recorded a personal-best time of 52.55 in the 400m, and Michael Williams followed at 13th place with a mark of 52.57.
Miguel Morales made his season debut in the 400m, placing 18th with a time of 57.72, and he also competed in the 800m, finishing 19th thanks to a run of 2:20.90.
Jeremy Longoria made his debut in the 5,000m, finishing 4th at 18:42.00.
Tony Zamora ran a personal-best time of 59.55 in the 400m hurdles, good for fourth place, and
Julian Garza scored 10th place with a 1:08.57 run.
In the 3,000m steeplechase,
Jacob Ismir took third place with a time of 10:59.59 while
Thomas Hughes finished fourth at 11:23.12.
Dylan Day marked a new PR in javelin, throwing 40.58m for seventh place, and
Sunny Ozoh recorded a 1.83m jump in the high jump, good for seventh place as well.
In the long jump,
Landon Norsworthy led the way with a second-place finish, registering a personal-best 7.28m jump, and
Rayvon Parker finished 15th with a distance of 6.20m, matching his personal best.
Next, the Tornados will compete at the J. Fred Duckett Twilight in Houston on Saturday, April 23.
