HOUSTON – The Concordia Texas track and field team competed in their final meet before they begin conference championships season, traveling to Rice for the J. Fred Duckett Twilight meet Saturday.
On the women's side,
Bayli Luke and
Jessica Day highlighted the Tornados' performances.
Bayli Luke turned in a solid day in the track events, finishing 29th with a 25.97 200m and 22nd with a 58.93 400m.
Jessica Day, who owns the school javelin record, finished third in the event with a 32.67m throw.
On the men's side, the Tornados received a pair of strong performances from jumpers
Landon Norsworthy and
Ravon Davis-Conway.
Landon Norsworthy marked a new personal best in the long jump, leaping 7.29m for fourth place.
Ravon Davis-Conway turned in a stellar performance in the triple jump, placing fourth with a 14.39m leap.
In addition to Norsworthy and Davis-Conway, the Tornados saw a number of solid performances on the men's side.
Rayvon Parker competed in three events at the meet, finishing 43rd with an 11.67 100m and 48th with a 24.21 200m. Lastly, Parker marked a new PR in the long jump, leaping 6.31m for 28th place.
Jacob Land placed 31st in both the 100m and the 200m, running times of 11.29 and 22.65, respectively.
Meanwhile,
Jackson Henry finished 34th in the 100m, clocking in at 11.34, and 25th in the long jump with a leap of 6.56m.
Chance Miller competed in the 100m and 200m, finishing 40th with an 11.41 100m and 49th with a 24.24 200m.
Jorge Garcia placed 40th in the 400m, running to a time of 52.80, and Michael Williams finished 42nd in the event with a time of 53.71.
Sam Stewart competed in the 800m and 1,500m, placing 22nd with a 1:58.05 800m and 39th with a 4:10.00 1,500m.
Daniel Bizimia placed 37th in the 800m, clocking in at 2:06.68, and
Tevin Smith was not far behind at 38th place with a time of 2:06.81.
Jacob Ismir and
Thomas Hughes competed in the 3,000m steeplechase, placing 24th at 10:41.05 and 25th at 10:45.39, respectively.
Kamron Loera recorded a 15:51.48 5,000m, good for 30th place, and
Rick Platas followed at 16:08.95 for 33rd place.
Dylan Day was the lone Tornado in the throwing events, placing 13th with a 35.38m Javelin throw.
In the high jump,
Sunny Ozoh placed sixth at 1.87m and
Bobby Espericueta finished 14th with a height of 1.82m.
Moving back to the women's side,
Lauren Rekward competed in three events at the meet, beginning with a 29th-place finish with a 13.63 100m. Next, she finished 59th in the 200m, clocking in at a personal-best time of 29.23, and finally she finished 39th with a 4.33m long jump.
Next,
Kallie Krenz placed 35th in the 100m, running to a time of 15.58, and she finished 36th with a long jump of 4.74m.
Tamia Dailey also competed in the 100m and the long jump, finishing 33rd in the sprint with a personal-best time of 13.87 and 38th with a jump of 4.54m.
Jenna Townsely followed suit, finishing 34th in the 100m with a 13.92 sprint and 40th in the long jump with a distance of 4.02m.
Jada Calais competed in the hurdles events, clocking in at 19.07 for 32nd place in the 100m hurdles and 1:22.04 for 22nd place in the 400m hurdles.
Avery Smith competed in the Javelin as well, placing 11th with a personal-best distance of 25.59m.
Erin Toro finished 16th in the hammer throw with a distance of 35.08m, 18th in the discus with a distance of 33.62m, and 13th in the javelin with a 24.18m toss.
Meanwhile, Allese Crutcher threw a distance of 27.69m in the discus, good for 21st place, and 10.46m in the shot put for 20th place.
Next, the Tornados will set their sights on the ASC Championships, beginning with day one on May 5 in Abilene, Texas.
