SAN ANTONIO – Four members of the Concordia Texas track and field team set new school record marks as the Tornados competed at the UIW Invitational Saturday.
Sam Stewart bested his own 1,500m school record, set at the Wes Kittley Invitational on March 19, with a new time of 4:08.78. Additionally, Stewart marked a new personal best in the 800m with a time of 1:56.73.
Meanwhile,
Rick Platas marked a new school record in the 5,000m, clocking in at 15:47.48 to eclipse the previous record of 15:53.79 set by teammate
Kamron Loera at the Texas State Invitational on March 26.
Erin Toro set a new school record with a 37.26m discus throw, beating her previous school record of 37.21m set at the Trinity Invitational on March 5. Toro also marked a personal best in the javelin, throwing 27.16m for sixth place.
Lastly,
Jessica Day registered a school-record 37.21m javelin throw to mark her name in the record books, besting the previous mark of 35.04 set at the 2021 ASC Championships by
Kendall Simpson.
In addition to Toro and Day, multiple CTX women's competitors marked top-20 finishes and new personal records.
Bayli Luke recorded two top-20 finishes, clocking in at 26.14 for a 16th-place finish in the 200m and 58.46 to finish fifth in the 400m.
In the 800m,
Bianca Bagwell recorded a personal-best time of 2:25.47, good for 10th place.
Lauren Rekward, along with competing in the 100m and 200m, finished 12th in the long jump with a personal-best jump of 4.39m.
Daria Jefferson finished top-10 in the high jump, jumping 1.45m for seventh place.
In the discus,
Rayna Pack tossed a personal-best distance of 30.86m, good for eighth place.
On the men's side,
Tevin Smith marked a new personal-best 200m time of 22.28, finishing 11th in the event. Smith also recorded a fourth-place finish in the 400m, running a time of 49.58 for fourth place.
Jorge Garcia also recorded a new PR in the 200m, clocking in at 23.83, and
Tony Zamora registered a personal-best time of 54.38 in the 400m. Zamora also marked a new personal-best 400m hurdles time, running 58.88 for 13th place.
Kamron Loera was not far behind Stewart in the 800m, recording a new personal-best time of 2:00.12 for 22nd place, and the 1,500m with a new PR of 4:09.44 for 32nd place.
In the 110m hurdles,
Brett Jackson earned a ninth-place finish with a time of 15.54.
Landon Norsworthy earned a third place in the long jump with a distance of 7.03m, and
Jackson Henry marked a personal-best 6.37m jump for 13th place.
Travion Walker left with a top-10 finish in the triple jump, finishing seventh with a distance of 12.78m.
Sunny Ozoh recorded a new PR with a 1.90m high jump, good for a tie-for-third, and
Dylan Day threw a personal-best 43.50m javelin for eighth place.
The Tornados will return to the track on Friday, traveling to Abilene, Texas for the McMurry Invitational.
