SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Concordia Texas women's tennis competed at the ITA Regionals, hosted by Trinity University. Sophomore Emmy Mize won the flight C Singles consolation bracket as the highlight for Tornados during the weekend.
Mize won three matches in two days to earn the title. She bested her teammate Jordan Johnson in a 6-0, 6-3 semifinal. Also in singles action, Emily Pullen advanced to the Sweet 16 of consolation play in the Flight A bracket.
In doubles action, the teams of Aria Moreni / Pullen & Isabella Cepeda / Rebekah McQueen earned impressive victories in the opening round of flight A. Moreni & Pullen outlasted Rebeca Almanza & Abigail Hughes by a score of 8-7 (7-3), while Cepeda & McQueen defeated Kristyn Dunn & Bailey Smith by a score of 8-6. Both teams would be bested in the next round, but showed that they would be forced to be reckoned with this year.
This now concludes the fall slate for women's tennis. The spring's season opener will be Saturday, Febraury 1st against the University of Dallas.
