GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Concordia Texas cross country program closed out the regular season at the Southwestern Showdown.
Samuel Valdez notched a new PR to place seventh overall, while
Hector Guiterrez also posted a new PR at the meet on Saturday.
In the men's 8K where the Tornados placed fifth overall, Valdez crossed the finish line at 27:13.16 as he also defeated Division II runners at the meet.
Matthew Kangas followed with a solid 28:40.42 for 26th place, while Gutirrez (30:13.94) and
Gerardo Leal (30:37.70) finished close behind.
Isaias Mendoza (30:50.76) rounded out the team's top five.
Edward Wells Wensley (32:44.83),
Damon Vasquez (33:10.08), &
Kaden Wolridge (39:36.81) all turned in determined efforts to close out the lineup.
The women's 6k followed the men's race with
Ashley Rivera (27:14.88, 26th-place) leading the charge for the women who placed eight overall.
Camille McWhorter (31:53.58) &
Skye Wardlay (32:31.30) finished consecutively at the race to place 59th and 60th respectively. Completing the scoring for the CTX women were
Ashley Ramirez (33:52.82) &
Breanna Garrett (40:00.17).

Concordia Texas will now shift their focus toward the SCAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 1st. The meet will be held in Prarie View, Texas at the Gov. Bill & Vara Daniel Farm and Ranch.
