CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Concordia University Texas Tornados wrapped up their fall campaign this past Saturday at the NCAA West Regional, hosted by Pomona‑Pitzer Athletics in Claremont. Both squads battled a strong regional field, laid the groundwork for future success, and closed out 2025 with commitment and grit.
On the women's side (6K), the Tornados placed 21st. Leading the pack was Liliana Lutz with a time of 26:44.5, followed by Ashley Rivera at 27:52.0. The remainder of the scoring group: Camille McWhorter (31:16.4), Ashley Ramirez (31:28.0) and Skye Wardlay (31:45.8).
The men's team ran the 8K and finished 22nd. Sophomore standout Samuel Valdez led the way with a 28:37.0 finish, closely followed by Matthew Kangas at 28:41.3. The rest of the scoring lineup included Gerardo Leal (30:26.1), Hector Guiterrez (30:36.4), Damon Vasquez (31:09.5) and Edward Wells Wensley (32:41.9).
Saturday marked another key step forward where the program ultimately wants to be. Each athlete gained invaluable experience on a national-qualifier course, and the foundation is now set for a strong offseason of training, preparation and development.

This concludes the 2025 cross country season as Concordia will now shift their full focus towards the track & field season in the spring. The Tornados' coaching staff extends appreciation to the athletes, alumni and supporters who helped propel the team through this 2025 campaign.
