AUSTIN, Texas — A new chapter begins for the Concordia Texas women's basketball program as Brianna Marstaller takes the helm in her first season as head coach. After serving as the program's associate head coach, Marstaller steps into the top role ready to guide a team with a strong returning core and exciting new talent following a 13–12 (8–8 SCAC) campaign.

The Tornados return several key contributors from last season, including Taysie Trejo, Katelyn Tietjen, Kayla Stainthorp, Madison Martinez, and Sam Ising. Trejo, who averaged 12.2 points per game while knocking down 29 threes, provides leadership and scoring in the backcourt.

Tietjen was one of the ASC's top playmakers, posting 68 assists and an impressive 88.5% mark from the free-throw line. Ising adds stability and toughness inside as she swatted 44 shots last season (second most in school history), while Stainthorp & Martinez stretches the floor with her perimeter shooting.

Adding firepower to the lineup are two high-profile transfers in Aja Holmes, a Division I transfer known for her offensive versatility, and Shanna Brown, who joins as a two-way standout from Chapman University and brings defensive energy and extensive experience.

Hitting the portal hard in the offseason, CTX also will have the services of Alexa Romero (Southwestern), Kaydence Menchaca (St. Mary's), Zoiey Jumawan (St. Thomas), Jemima Yowa (Ranger CC), Kiyah Hatcher (Park University), & Jaida Cunningham (Hartford). Concordia also added two stellar freshmen to the roster in Amber Bateman & Kimora Wright as they will aim to make their marks early into the careers.

"Our group has worked hard to build on the progress we made last season," said Coach Marstaller. "We're focusing on daily improvement, playing connected, and competing at a championship level. The returning players have set the tone, and our newcomers are eager to make an impact right away."

The Tornados averaged nearly 68 points per game last season, ranking among the conference's most balanced offensive units. Adding to the offense's diversity is guard Alice (Ace) Wilkinson. The guard missed last season due to injury but is excited about the team's potential.

"Our team is really motivated this year," said Wilkinson. "Coach Marstaller brings great energy, and it's made us excited to come to practice every day. We're working hard for her and for each other. Everyone's hungry for a championship and ready to show what we can do."

Concordia Texas is predicted to finish fifth in the conference. They open up the 2025–26 campaign on November 8th against Whitman College, aiming to build on last year's strong finish and climb the SCAC standings under new leadership.
