AUSTIN, Texas - Concordia Texas forward
Destiny Mathews has been named to the D3hoops.com All-Region 10 Second Team, the committee announced on Tuesday. Mathew's selection to the team marks the first time a Tornado has made the All-Region Team since
Jaela Dejean in the
2016-17 season.
Mathews, a graduate senior from Palestine, Texas, earned First Team All-SCAC honors and finished second in the Player of the Year race in the conference. She finished second in the league with 22.2 ppg, and fourth with 9.9 rpg and 2.6 spg. Mathews also recorded 10 double-doubles with season highs of 38 points (twice) and 18 rebounds as both marked program-highs by a single player in over a decade.Â
On the season, Mathews was named the SCAC Player of the three times this season and was named the first ever Tornado to be named theÂ
USBWA National Player of the Week. Her 510 points were the seventh most, her 22.2 ppg was the third most, her 227 rebounds were the fourth most, and her 9.9 rbg were the sixth most in a single season in program history.
