Track & Field Competes at Trinity Invitational

The Tornados recorded 13 massive PRs in San Antonio.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Concordia Texas track & field team exhibited another round of noticeable progress at the Trinity Invitational.13 Tornados recorded PRs at the event this weekend.

In the men's field events, Ka'Von Moore Jr. posted a pair of PRs in the long jump (6.61m) and triple jump (13.27). His triple jump leap was an improvement by 1.27m. Walker Finleyson also set a new best in the long jump at 6.47m, while Nick Anderson posted a new high jump plateau at 1.86m.

In the women's field events, Kiki Gonzales had a solid day with a shot put toss of 11.77m to place sixth in the event. Kimora Roberson was also solid with her best throw of the day reaching 9.69m. Lluvia Rodriguez competed in the javelin toss where he she heaved the javelin 15.22m.

Rodriguez also served double duty as she PR'd in the 400m by one second with a time of 1:20.94. Also excelling in the mid-distance was Cachelle Flores (2:34.70) & Ashley Rivera (2:49.89), who earned 800m PRs. 

Rylee Whorton (26.48) & Matayia Rayson (28.91) surged to career-best times in the 200m, while Ashanti Bradshaw exploded off the blocks in the 100m for a wind-legal PR at 13.36 in the 100m dash.

In the men's sprints, Tyler Kelley was stellar in the 100m dash as he posted a new career-best time of 11.94. Jake Land collected a wind-legal, season-best time of 22.37 in the 200m race. 

Edward Wells Wensley clocked in at 18:20.29 to PR in the 5000m. Thomas Hughes (34:34.71) & Sam Valdez (34:52.37) were superb in the 10000m race as they earned third and fifth-place respectively.

Concordia Texas will next head to Denton, Texas to compete in the Mean Green Invitational hosted by the University of North Texas next Saturday, April 5th.
