Track & Field Surges in Day Two of SCAC Championships

The Tornados tallied six PRs. Nick Anderson scored points, while Jake Land qualified for the 100m finals.

SEGUIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas track & field program shined in day two of the SCAC Championships. The Tornados tallied six PRs. Nick Anderson scored points, while Jake Land qualified for the 100m finals at Texas Lutheran University on Saturday.

Ashley Rivera earned a PR in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 13:24.24 to start the day. In the men's 3000m SC, Thomas Hughes paced himself to a season-best time of 10:05.01. Cachelle Flores left it all on the line with a time of 1:11.12 in the 400m hurdles.

In the field events, Nick Anderson's best leap in the high jump was 1.87m which placed him seventh overall. Lluvia Rodriguez powered through in the 400m race with a PR of 1:20.28, while Damon Vasquez also tallied a PR in the men's 800m where he clocked in at 2:06.14.

In the prelims, Jake Land stole the show on the men's side with a time of 10.57 as he was the second fastest qualifying time at the meet. Demarques Ross also PR'd in the race as he crossed the finish line at the 11.60 mark.
