ABILENE, Texas - The Concordia Texas track & field program closed out the SCAC Track & Field Championships with a strong final day, highlighted by record-breaking performances, multiple point scorers, and continued growth across a young roster. The women placed 5th out of 11 teams, while the men finished 8th out of 10.
The day was headlined by freshman standouts. Cylie Wong delivered a record-breaking performance in the pole vault, clearing 2.96m to set a new program record and score five points. Malaya Thomas continued her dominant weekend, finishing as the runner-up in the 200m with a school-record time of 24.89 while also adding points in the 100m and contributing to two scoring relays.
On the distance side, Isaias Mendoza impressed in the 1500m, winning his heat and placing sixth overall with a personal-best time, while also adding points in the 800m.
In the field events, Ciena Robinson added another strong performance, placing fifth in the discus to score key points, while Kevin Stein recorded a personal best on the men's side.
The Tornados also found success in the hurdles and relays. Camille McWhorter scored in the 100m hurdles, and the women's relay teams contributed valuable points with top finishes in both the 4x100m and 4x400m.
With multiple school records, personal bests, and scoring performances, Concordia capped off the championships with momentum and a foundation built on a talented, young core.
