LETU Too Strong for the Tornados

Austin, TX- Concordia University Texas men's basketball team (1-2, 1-5 ASC) fell to Letourneau University (3-0, 4-1 ASC), 82-67 in American Southwest Conference play Saturday night in Longview at the Solheim Arena. 

Concordia remained competitive throughout most of the first half which included 6 ties and 6 lead changes. The Tornadoes scored the first bucket of the game and led by as many as three, 10-7, with 14 minutes remaining. Vanwright then scored 7 consecutive points to give LETU a 14-10 advantage. 

Concordia attempted to make a late push, but the Jackets, who shot over 57% from the field, would go into the half up by 43-30. 

Concordia refused to give up and got within 6 on two different occasions, the last time at 73-67 with 3:07 left on the clock. 

The Tornados were led by Junior Brad Walker with 17 points. Michael Sherlin followed Walker with 15 points while point guard Jason Recendez finished with 11 points. 

The Yellow Jackets were led by Junior JJ Rockmore who was in double figures with 10 points and had 6 rebounds. 

Concordia will take on East Texas Baptist University in Marshall on Monday evening at 7:30 pm.
