Austin, TX- The Concordia University Texas men's basketball team picked up a, 94-78 win over Hardin Simmons University, Thursday night at the Concordia Fieldhouse. The victory improves Concordia to 7-10 overall and 6-7 in American Southwest Conference (ASC) action. Hardin Simmons falls to 6-11 overall and 5-8 in the ASC.
Concordia was led by
Brad Walker, who finished with a double-double on the night, scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds. Walker was 12-22 from the field in the victory. Senior
Joel McDonald finished with 16 points. Two other Tornados finished in double-digits,
Reza Farahani with 11 points along with 5 assists and Brain Elarms with 12 points.
Hardin Simmons was led by Casey Riddle with 18 points in the loss.
As a team, Concordia shot 48 percent from the field making, 37-77 shots. Even though Hardin Simmons out-rebounded the Tornados, 43-37 Concordia forced 33 Cowboys turnovers.
Next action for the Tornados will be against McMurry University at the Fieldhouse on Saturday January 31, 2009. Opening tip-off is scheduled for 3:00pm.
On Saturday the Concordia basketball coaching staff will take part in the National Coaches vs. Cancer program. Each of the coaches will show their support for the fight against cancer by wearing their sneakers and suits.
