CLARKSVILLE, Ark. --
A 12-0 run to start the second half was not enough for the Concordia University Texas men's basketball team to take down the University of the Ozarks Saturday night at Mabee Gymnasium as the Eagles (2-3, 1-0 American Southwest Conference) held off the Tornados (1-2, 0-1 ASC) by a score of 98-95 in the ASC opener.

Six CTX players recorded double digits in the scoring column, led by senior forward #Brad Walker#, who racked up 20 points in the loss.  Junior guard #Jon Hutton# had his best offensive game in his short career as a CTX player by scoring 15 points, including a big three-pointer, which knotted the game at 93-93 late in the second half.

Ozarks held a slim 37-36 lead at halftime over Concordia Texas.  As the second half began, Ozarks threw away the opening inbound pass and the Tornados siezed the momentum, busting out to an 11-point lead behind the strength of a 12-0 run.  However, Ozarks was equally up to the challenge of increasing the pace by showing off an eight-point run of their own.  The Eagles would eventually regain the lead and end up leading by as much as eight points in the second half.

CTX was unable to create defensive stops in the second half as the Eagles shot 74.1% (20-of-27) from the field in the final 20 minutes of action.  For the contest, Ozarks blistered the nets by shooting 67.3% (35-of-52) from the floor, including 71.4% (5-of-7) from beyond the three-point line.  CTX shot 45.2% (38-of-84) from the field as a team.

Despite committing 27 turnovers, the Eagles were able to stave off a late charge by the Tornados.

Ozarks' Blake Mitchem led all players with 31 points and 14 rebounds.

The Tornados will complete their current three-game road trip with a game at the University of Texas Dallas, Monday night at 7:30 p.m.  The game versus the No. 12 Comets can be heard live on the Tornados Sports Radio Network.
