RICHARDSON, Texas -- Four Concordia University Texas men's basketball players scored in double digits but it was not enough to upset the No. 12 University of Texas-Dallas as the Comets (5-1, 2-0 ASC) went on to an 81-62 win Monday night at the UTD Activity Center.
Concordia (1-3, 0-2 ASC) was led by junior guard #Jon Hutton#'s 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the floor, including 2-of-3 from behind the three-point line and 3-of-5 from the free throw line. Hutton also recorded two steals and two assists for CTX.
The Tornados led by eight points early in the game (14-6) before the Comets tied the contest (16-16) after going on a 10-2 run over a two-minute stretch.
UT-Dallas would lead by as much as eight points (34-26) in the first half before holding a five-point lead at halftime.
The Comets took full control of the contest early in the second half after opening the second frame with a 17-5 run (54-36). UTD would push the lead to 21 points (66-45) with 10:40 in the contest. CTX would trim the Comet lead down to 11 points as #Kenny Williams# knocked down back-to-back jumpers with 6:16 left. However, the Comets staved off any hopes of a CTX comeback after closing out the game on an 11-3 run.
Williams finished the game with seven points, all of which came in the second half. Freshman guard #Nick Haynes# chipped in 11 points, while senior forward #Reza Farahani# and freshman guard #Larry Durand# each netted 10.
UTD's Scott Rodgers poured in a game-high 23 points.
Concordia will return home on Sat., Dec. 5 to play LeTourneau University at 3 p.m. in Concordia Fieldhouse.
