GEORGETOWN, Texas -- A 19-6 run to open the second half by Southwestern University allowed the Pirates (6-1) to move past the Concordia University Texas men's basketball team, 96-87, Saturday evening at the Southwestern University/Trinity University Classic in the Robertson Center.
CTX (2-6, 1-4 American Southwest Conference) was unable to overcome the hot shooting hands of the Pirates, who blistered the nets to the tune of 61% (33-of-54) from the floor. The Tornados shot 50% (33-of-66) but committed 30 total fouls and 16 turnovers. Southwestern shot 57% from the free throw line on 37 attempts (21 made free throws).
#Brad Walker# and #Kenny Williams# each posted 16 points to lead CTX in a losing effort. #Reza Farahani# and #Jon Hutton# both chipped in with 11 points.
Anthony Cox led Southwestern with 22 points, including 12 from the free throw line.
The Tornados will return to the Robertson Center on Sunday to play Trinity at 2 p.m.
