Concordia Fell to UMHB in Final Seconds

Belton, TX- Concordia University Texas men's basketball team fell to the University of Mary Hardin Baylor 86-82, in American Southwest Conference action on Tuesday night in Belton. The loss drops Concordia to 7-14 overall and 6-11 in the ASC while, UMHB improves to 14-7 and 12-5.

As the Tornados headed into halftime they led the Cru 48-35, leading as much as 17 at one point. 

In the second half the Cru slowly chipped away at the Tornados lead to take a one point advantage with 5:40 remaining. A late shooting foul called on the Tornados put the Cru on the line to giving them a three point opportunity. Joel McDonald nailed a clutch three pointer to put Concordia within two of the lead. UMHB connected on their final free throws to give them the 86-82 victory. 

Leading the Tornados was Senior Joel McDonald with 23 points and Reza Farahani with 19 points. Junior Brad Walker added 12 points. 

The Cru was led by Gaddy with 32 points. 

As a team, Concordia shot 46 percent from the field knocking down 11-22 from beyond the arc. The Tornados were outrebounded by the Cru 34-21. 

Concordia will be back in action against Schreiner University on Thursday night in Kerrville, TX where the opening tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
