Austin, Texas – The Concordia University Texas men's basketball team, which has made four straight appearances in the American Southwest Conference Tournament, tips off its 2010-11 schedule with a home game at the Concordia Field House against Southwestern on Friday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. Fans can also follow the game through a live webcast.

Concordia brings back 12 letterwinners from last year's team which registered a 16-10 overall record and a 14-7 ledger in conference play. Guards Nick Haynes, Tayler Jacobs and Justin Reefer all garnered postseason recognition from the conference last season. Haynes, the top returning scorer, was honored as the ASC West Division Freshman of the Year after averaging 11.0 points per game and leading the Tornados in three-point field goals made (60). He shot 44.4 percent from behind the arc. Jacobs, who joined Haynes on the west division's all-freshman squad, averaged 6.3 points, while Reefer, an all-defensive team selection, accumulated 29 steals in just 17 games after joining the program at the start of the spring semester.

Southwestern, which finished 16-10 overall and 9-7 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action last season, dropped its season opener by a 74-72 decision to Dallas on Nov. 15. The Pirates are expected to be led by seniors Nick Caputo and Jonathan Brown, who were All-SCAC selections last season. Brown led the Pirates in points (13.7 pg), boards (5.2 pg) and blocked shots (0.8 pg) in 2009-10. Caputo, who had 19 points and eight rebounds in the squad's narrow loss to Dallas, scored at a 12.0 clip and ranked second on the team in scoring behind Brown.
