BOX SCORE
Belton, Texas –
Donald Lee and
Henry Riasco each scored 12 points, but the Concordia University Texas men's basketball team dropped a 94-73 decision to eighth-ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor on Tuesday, Jan. 10 at the Mayborn Campus Center.
Concordia took a quick 5-4 lead with
Donald Lee providing all of the scoring, but a monstrous Kitrick Bell dunk on the other end put Mary Hardin-Baylor ahead and gave the hosts momentum. After
Kenny Williams sank a long jumper from a few feet behind the free throw line, the Crusaders went on a 15-1 run to take a 22-8 lead at the 13:57 mark. Sterling Phillips sank a jumper to give his team a 52-30 halftime advantage.
The Tornados scored five of the first seven points in the second half, as
Chris McDermott sank a jumper and Williams canned a trey in the opening minutes to make it 54-37. However, Concordia would come no closer the rest of the way. The Crusaders ballooned their lead up to 28 points at 89-61 on a Thomas Orr trifecta before eventually running away with the 94-73 win.
Concordia was paced by Lee and Williams. Lee scored 10 of his 12 points on 5-for-7 shooting from the field, while Williams finished with 10 points and five assists.
Terence Sims added eight points and nine boards off the bench, and
Henry Riasco reached double figures with 12 points in a reserve role.
Mary Hardin-Baylor (13-0, ASC 9-0), which is one of only five remaining undefeated teams remaining in the nation, was led by Marlon Miller and Kitrick Bell. Miller had a game-high 21 points, while Bell posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards. Dorian Purnell finished with nine points and 13 rebounds.
Concordia (7-6, ASC 5-4) will look to snap a two-game skid when it hosts Texas Lutheran on Thursday, Jan. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
