Casey Skalaban drove in a combined seven runs in leading the Concordia University Texas baseball team to a pair of victories on Saturday, Feb. 16 at Tornado Field as part of the Rudy's BBQ Tornado Classic. The Tornados extended their winning streak to four by defeating Ozarks, 17-6, in eight innings and Howard Payne by a 7-0 score.

In the later game against Howard Payne, Concordia took control by scoring five runs in the top of the fourth. Brent Schaekel blew the game open by blasting a bases-clearing double down the line in left that made it 4-0 at the time. Schaekel then scored an additional run when Skalaban reached on an error by the Yellow Jacket third baseman.

Concordia (4-6) tacked on two insurance runs in the top of the sixth to seal the final outcome. After Brandon Hollier and Gareth Hutton pulled out a double steal to place two runners in scoring position, Skalaban came through by belting a single to left field that made it 7-0.

Aaron Dunahoe picked up the victory and improved to 1-0 by pitching six scoreless innings and allowing six hits. He fanned five and walked three. Butschek earned his first save by throwing three shutout innings of relief. He recorded six strikeouts and did not issue a walk. Howard Payne's Jonathan Morris suffered the loss and fell to 1-1 by giving up five runs, which were all unearned, and three hits in four frames of work.

Earlier in the day, Concordia broke a 6-6 tie by scoring five runs in the seventh and six in the eighth to win in a game that was called early due to the tournament's 10-run rule. Brandon Hollier, Casey Skalaban and Damian Del Signore all recorded two-run hits in the late innings to help the Tornados pull away with the 11-run win.

Austin Rupert earned the victory and improved to 1-1 after giving up three hits and one run, which was unearned, and recording three strikeouts. Ozarks' Nathan Cedor took the loss and fell to 0-1 after giving up six runs, including five earned, in 2.1 innings of work.

Concordia (4-6) will wrap up competing at the Rudy's BBQ Tornado Classic when it hosts Texas-Dallas at noon.
