Shooting woes doom Tornados in loss to Texas-Dallas on Saturday

RICHARDSON, Texas – Texas-Dallas handed the Concordia University Texas men's basketball team an 95-49 setback on Saturday at the UTD Activity Center.

The Tornados (11-4, 8-4 ASC), who lost for only the second time in their last 10 outings, shot a season-low 24.2 percent (16-of-66) from the floor. Concordia Texas also connected on 3-of-26 attempts from beyond the arc.

The Comets (12-1, 10-0 ASC) remain atop the American Southwest Conference standings after knocking down 51.7 percent (30-for-58) of its attempts on the day and outrebounding CTX, 55-35.

Texas-Dallas had six players net double digits. Dmitriy Chernikov led the way with a game-high 22 to go along with nine boards. Carter Nash logged a double-double with 12 points and a game-best 11 rebounds.

Josh Sanchez led the Tornados with 11 points. Andre Potts added 10.

Concordia will return to action on Thursday, Jan. 23, when it faces Sul Ross State. The league tilt is slated to tip off at 7:30 p.m. at the Gallego Center in Alpine.
