AUSTIN, Texas – After picking up its first win of the 2014-15 campaign on Tuesday, the Concordia University Texas men's basketball team will return to action in a non-conference tilt at Schreiner on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Edgington Gymnasium in Kerrville.

LAST TIME OUT
Concordia Texas (1-1) dropped an exhibition game at St. Edward's, 99-82, on Thursday evening in south Austin. Fifteen Tornados scored in the non-counting contest, led by Donovan Ford's 14 points. Concordia shot 47.6 percent from the field, including 58.1 percent in the first half.

RECAPPING THE FIRST WIN
The Tornados pulled away in the second half of Tuesday's game to knock off Texas Lutheran, 109-93, in Seguin. Josh Sanchez buried six 3-pointers and logged a game-high 26 points in the win. Sanchez hit a 3-pointer with 8:03 left in the first half that gave CTX the lead for good. In the final three minutes of the game, the Tornados reeled off a 13-3 run that doubled their advantage.

ABOUT THE SERIES WITH SCHREINER
Saturday's contest marks the 69th meeting in the all-time series between Concordia and Schreiner. The Tornados hold a 36-32 advantage, and CTX has won three consecutive meetings. Concordia won both matchups last season, including a 92-88 victory in Kerrville on Dec. 21, 2013. Additionally, the Tornados have won nine of the last 11 meetings at Edington Gymnasium.

MORE ABOUT THE MOUNTAINEERS
The Mountaineers enter Saturday's tilt with a 2-0 record. Schreiner netted a 65-58 win over Pacific (Ore.) in the season opener on Nov. 15. The Mountaineers also defeated Willamette, 69-57, a day later. Jared Thompson is leading Schreiner in scoring at 11 points per game, while Stevan Guerrero and Christian Pena each are averaging 10.5 points.

FORMER ASC FOES TO MEET AGAIN
Schreiner is a current member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Mountaineers are a former member of the American Southwest Conference, but left for the SCAC with Texas Lutheran prior to the 2013-14 campaign. While members of the ASC, Schreiner and Concordia played 28 times, with CTX winning 19 of the matchups.

TORNADOS AVERAGING DOUBLE DIGITS
Five CTX guards are averaging more than 10 points per game this season. Josh Sanchez is leading the way at 24 points per game, while Andre Potts is averaging 17. Donovan Ford (12.5 ppg), Terry Corprew (12 ppg) and Rashad Coleman (10.5 ppg) also are averaging double figures.

#FAST40
The Tornados have led the American Southwest Conference in scoring in the last eight seasons. In the past four years, Concordia has ranked among the top 10 in the nation in scoring. The Tornados averaged 87.6 points per game last year, which ranked eighth in the country. This year, CTX is averaging 101 points per game, including a season-best 109 against Texas Lutheran on Nov. 18.

SANCHEZ CLOSING IN ON 1,000 POINTS AS A TORNADO
Josh Sanchez surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career in the Tornados' season opener last Saturday. However, the Houston native is closing in on another 1,000-point mark, this time in a CTX jersey. To date, the Houston native has amassed 968 points at Concordia. He also netted 63 points in his freshman season at McMurry in 2009-10, giving him 1,031 points overall.

WELCOME BACK
After missing the 2013-14 season due to an injury, Terry Corprew returned to the floor in the Tornados' season opener last Saturday. The senior guard scored seven points, grabbed two rebounds and handed out an assist in 17 minutes of action. During the 2012-13 campaign, Corprew averaged 11.5 points and shot 45.2 percent in 30 games off the bench for CTX.
