AUSTIN, Texas – Five Concordia Texas players scored in double figures to help the Tornados triumph over Huston-Tillotson 114-105 Saturday afternoon at the Concordia Fieldhouse.

Shane Roach led the way for Concordia (1-0) with 19 points. He was the only player for either team to shoot perfectly from the field, going 7-for-7. Demarco Richardson and Josh Samuels added 18 points each. Gabriel Spivey and Rashad Coleman each added 11 points. Coleman dished out 10 assists to open the season with a double-double. Meanwhile, Spivey grabbed a team-best six total rebounds. Coleman led the defensive effort with four steals.

Huston-Tillotson (1-2) was led by Sha Fields' game-high 32 points.

Concordia led wire-to-wire, but virtually sealed the victory with an 18-1 run over the course of three minutes late in the first half.

The Rams would counter with a run of their own in the second half, coming to within a point with 1:27 left in the game. However, the Tornados would close out the game on an 8-0 spurt.

Concordia goes on the road to visit Trinity Nov. 17. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
