BOX SCORE AUSTIN, Texas -- The Concordia Texas men's basketball team took home a 103-98 victory over Southwestern at the Concordia Fieldhouse Wednesday night thanks to a late push in the second half.
The Tornados (3-1) were aided by 26 points in
Donovan Ford's return to the lineup. Josh Samuels also ended the night in double figures, scoring 19 points.
Concordia was able to overcome Southwestern's (2-4) Ryan Ogden's 40 points in the win.
The Tornados went into halftime with a 65-47 advantage, but the Pirates made a push in the second half. The teams were knotted up at 90 with less than five minutes to play. Concordia then broke the stalemate with three straight points off the free throw line. Southwestern was able to get within a point with 2:59 left in redulation, but the Tornados were able to close the game on a 10-3 run. Ogden hit a 3-pointer as time expired to end the CTX spurt.
Concordia hits the road for a battle at Belhaven on Saturday. The women tip-off at 1 p.m. with the men's game to follow.
