Foul Trouble Dooms Concordia in 88-79 Loss at Colorado College

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Concordia Texas men's basketball team suffered an 88-79 setback Tuesday night at Colorado College in the second installment of the Pikes Peak Holiday Classic.

The Tigers (3-5) converted 16-of-22 free throws in the second half compared to the Tornados (5-3) going 13-of-20 from the charity stripe for the entire game.

Ephraim Price helped Concordia from the 3-point line, sinking 5-of-7 from long range en route to a team-high 21 points. All five triples came in the second period. Ben Page (15) and Donovan Ford (12) also ended the night in double-digits for CTX. The Tigers' Eric Houska led all scorers with 23 points.

The two teams went toe-to-toe for the entire first half. Colorado got out to a seven-point lead late, but the Tornados were able to close the gap. The Tigers led 36-35 going into the intermission.

The second half opened much like the first ended. Concordia was able to get out in front at 68-64 with 7:11 remaining in the contest. Colorado then had a short 5-0 run to regain the lead at 69-69. The Tornados then tied the game for the 13th time with 4:25 remaining. The Tigers then used an 8-0 run over the next three minutes to pull away.  Concordia battled to within five points twice over the final 90 seconds, but the comeback effort would not be enough.

The Tornados go back to the hardwood against Wartburg College tomorrow at 5 p.m. Central to wrap up 2015.
