BOX SCORE AUSTIN, Texas -- The Concordia Texas men's basketball team scored 67 first-half points en route to a 111-94 victory over Howard Payne Saturday afternoon at the Concordia Fieldhouse.

The Tornados (4-4 ASC, 9-8) sank 14 3-pointers Saturday, with Donovan Ford accounting for half of those. Ford was 7-of-12 from beyond the arc for 21 of his 31 total points, setting a new CTX-career high. Ironically, his overall career high stands at 34, which he accomplished while playing for Howard Payne in a contest against Concordia back in 2013.

The Yellow Jackets (3-5, 7-11) were led by Khyce Randall's 33 points.

As a team, Concordia shot 60.9 percent from long range, making it the fifth-best performance in program history. The Tornados were also 31-of-41 at the free throw line. They were able to hold HPU quiet from the 3-point line in the first half.

In addition to Ford, a total of six Tornados ended the night in double-digits. Greg Rollis led the starters with 16 points. Ephriam Price tallied 12 while Josh Samuels, Rashad Coleman and Ben Page added 10 each. Page grabbed a team-best seven boards. Ford had a game-high six assists.

Concordia opened up a big lead in the first half using a couple of long runs and went into the locker room with a 67-38 advantage at the break. The Tornados led by as much as 36 with 17:19 left in regulation and again at the 15:26 mark, but Howard Payne regrouped and managed to close the gap to 12 with 1:25 left. Concordia survived the scare, going 11-of-12 from the charity stripe in the game's final minute-plus.

The Tornados return to action Thursday at 7:30 p.m., when they travel to McMurry for the first of two games in Abilene.
