BOX SCORE ABILENE, Texas -- The Concordia Texas men's basketball team trailed by just four with 1:11 remaining in regulation, but Hardin-Simmons outscored the Tornados 7-3 in the remaining time to come away with an 83-76 victory Saturday afternoon in Abilene.
Rashad Coleman and
Donovan Ford turned in strong performances. finishing with 18 points each to lead Concordia's (10-9, 4-5 ASC) scoring effort.
Meanwhile, all five Cowboys (12-7, 7-3) starts finished in double figures, led by Duane Hopper's game-high 21 points.
The Tornados struggled from the field in the first half, going 6-of-23, but CTX bounced back in the second half, shooting at a 40 percent clip (16-of-40). For the second straight game, Concordia had a strong day at the charity stripe, sinking 24-of-31 (77.4 percent).
CTX returns to action Feb. 6 against Mary Hardin-Baylor in a key ASC West showdown at the Concordia Fieldhouse. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
