BOX SCORE

AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas men's basketball team matched its own ASC record and program-record 144 points with a commanding 144-97 triumph over Belhaven Thursday night at the Concordia Fieldhouse.

The team's third straight victory truly was a team effort as no Tornado had more than 15 points. In all, seven CTX players finished the night in double figures. Christian Colston (14), Gabriel Spivey (12) and Phil Meikle (11) all recorded career highs. Joe Neal and Joshua Samuels led the Concordia effort with 15 each. Rashad Coleman (14) and Ephriam Price (13) also finished in double-digits.

As the contest unfolded, both teams traded buckets for the opening few minutes. Eventually, Concordia pulled away for a nine point lead. A 12-0 run spanning nearly two minutes in the middle of the first half effectively put the game away as the Tornados took a 40-22 lead with 7:20 to play. Eventually, CTX would create even more distance, taking a 70-42 advantage into the break.

Concordia outscored Belhaven 75-55 in the second half.

As a team, the Tornados tallied 90 points off the bench. The defense forced 33 turnovers that resulted in 49 CTX points.

This is the third time in school history that Concordia scored 144 points and the second time in 2016 (last vs. Ozarks, Feb. 8).

The Tornados return to action Saturday against Wiley College. Tip-off is at 3 p.m. at the Concordia Fieldhouse.
